-Minutes were approved-Treasurer’s Report: Dan Childs, Treasurer reports 2 items of note: *Town has paid the Library 1/2 of allotted funds for the year *Fidelity account has been closed and funds are moved to Vanguard, to streamline management of our funds
-Librarian’s Report: Laura Rochat, Librarian, reports;
*She met with 5 VTC Landscape Design students and Marie Limoges, their teacher, to discuss our priorities and interests in the use of our outdoor space. Students will create plans and designs to present to the public on Wednesday May 10 @ 6pm at VTC.
-Programming ideas
*Sunday June 18 and 25 Ashley Jablonski will offer a cartooning program from 5-6:30. The Library will advertise this for ages 9 and above and will provide the materials pencils, erasers and markers, and will provide a copier, projector and screen, tables, chairs as well as snacks
*Laura is coordinating with The Mushroom Forager based in Richmond to schedule a presentation on foraging wild mushrooms in our woods. Late July or August is our target date and we are hoping to have a classroom presentation as well as an outdoor component to the program.
*The Brookfield Elementary School Kindergarten Class will be invited to a field trip to the Brookfield Library. It would be wonderful to make this an annual event!
*The Deconstruction Event will be offered again in September
*The writer, poet and anthology creator James Crews will be invited to do a presentation in late July or August
*We hope to resume the 1st and 3rd Sunday drop-in knitting/fabric arts circle with MaryLou Maeder starting in October
*We will ask MaryLou Maeder if she is interested in offering the after school Knitting with Kids program next year in November/December and/or February/March
*A cook-book/recipe swap has been suggested
-High School Scholarship Update: we are awaiting confirmation of the Award Presentation date and the RUHS recommendation of the scholarship recipient. Amy Borgman will plan to attend to present the award
-Face-book check-in: Susan reports we are on-line with people checking the site. It is hoped that we will be able to start including information about programs and events as well as info such as address and hours. Thank you Susan.
